Some more Walleye Fishing Tips...

There are some great points in this video about keeping your line tight while jigging (holding your rod tip high between jigs). If they line isn't tight, then you can't feel when the fish bites. It's hard enough trying to sense when a walleye bites without making this mistake, so don't forget to keep your line tight.

Until next time...

Hi there, this is the Walleye Fishing Tips Headquarters......

Although Midwest Outdoors is more in the format of a newspaper than the format of the usual magazines, you will be surprised at the amount of quality that you will find in just one issue. There are easily 20-30 articles in each issue. Compare that with the other big name magazines who only have 4-5 articles and so much advertising that you can hardly find any good information. Don't get me wrong, I like the other magazines and maybe they have the big name writers. I guess I'm just trying to say that until I found Midwest Outdoors, I probably wouldn't have known just how good a "magazine" could be.

I just read an article today in one of the issues about jigging for walleyes with spoons. I found out that not only is it good to use during the icy months (have you been outside lately?), but it's also good at other times of the year. Usually I have a separate tackle box. One for ice fishing and one for the rest of the year. Who knew that I can use the ice fishing equipment during the summer months?

Anyway, I'm anxious to grab every issue of Midwest Outdoors to see what I can learn next. I mean with as many articles as there are, you get the great new things to try as well as the good old days stories of father and son, father and daughter, etc. fishing and hunting stories.

I almost forgot to mention that Midwest Outdoors is a hunting "magazine" as well. Even during the fall and spring where there seems to be more focus on hunting, there are still plenty of fishing articles. I would say that it is about 50 percent hunting and 50 percent fishing most of the time.

Obviously you can tell that I like Midwest Outdoors a lot. It's not a very expensive magazine and I pick it up at the store every time I go there. I guess I might as well get a subscription and save some money. Anyway, this "magazine" is too valuable not to mention it to you.

Oh and one of the best parts of Midwest Outdoors, is Cartoon Corner where readers look at a picture and come up with the funniest caption they can and send it in. There are some pretty funny results from all of that.

All right, all right, I'll stop going on about them now. Have a good night.

Sincerely,
Walleye Fishing Tips Headquarters

Some Fall Walleye Fishing Tips...

If you don't want to watch the whole video, at least watch the last minute or so.  You can tell it's a nice walleye when a professional fisherman gets caught up in the moment.  Very nice walleye.  They talk about going to Ontario to catch nice walleyes, but the same concepts will work for any area that has little to no fishing pressure.  Hey, if you can afford it and can take the time to do it, go fishing in Ontario.  I'm just saying that for those of us who have to stay closer to home, find rivers and lakes that aren't fished that often and you'll have better luck too.  I know some anglers who go fishing in South Dakota for a week and get great results, too.  I often wonder if they did the same thing at a lake here for a whole week whether they would have just as much luck catching fish.

Anyway, it's off to bed for me.  Goodnight and sweet dreams... :)

Until next time...
